History

My grandfather was a lifelong dairy farmer and lover of cows. When he retired he sold his dairy cows and started a large fold of registered Highland Cattle. He kept this herd going strong through the 90s into the very early 2000s. He passed away when I was very young, and most of the cows were relocated after that.

Unique Acres was his chosen name, because his farm was just that; Unique. Back then it was pretty uncommon to drive down a country road and happen upon 30 head of Highland cattle. He also had peacocks, chickens and other farm animals. This made unique the best way to summarize his farm.

He bred and raised registered Highlands but also threw some Longhorns into the mix. He crossbred the longhorns and highlands and raised those for meat.

He created a legacy and a childhood full of great memories for me.
